Construct the main body using reclaimed mahogany to emulate the heavy base of a telegraph station. Inset a brass pivot arm that mimics the action of a classic Morse code telegraph key.

Shape the copper sheet metal into a conical hopper and secure it to the rear of the mahogany base. Add a weathered patination to the metal to ensure it matches the aesthetic of a Victorian-era communication device.

Install a precision-drilled seed gate beneath the hopper that connects directly to the telegraph key lever. When a bird lands on the attached brass perch, the weight tilts the lever to trigger a controlled release of birdseed.

Finish the wood with several coats of marine-grade spar varnish to protect it from the elements. Attach small vintage-style ceramic insulators at the corners to act as decorative mounting points for hanging the feeder.
