Vintage Film Reel Projector Seed Station

Construct the main body using high-quality walnut plywood to resemble the mechanical chassis of a silent film projector. Incorporate a central brass axle that connects the two side-mounted wooden film reels.

Fabricate the two oversized film reels from thin-cut cedar strips, leaving gaps between the slats to allow for easy viewing of the seed levels. These reels act as gravity-fed hoppers that trickle grain into the central chute as they rotate slowly in the wind.

Fashion the projector lens assembly out of a hollowed-out mahogany block, fitting it with a glass insert to act as the primary feeding basin. This creates a focused area for birds to land while protecting the seed from rain and moisture.

Finish the entire structure with a food-safe, weather-resistant outdoor oil to highlight the contrast between the dark walnut and light cedar grain. Mount the assembly on a wrought-iron tripod stand to complete the authentic vintage aesthetic.
