Construct the main body of the telescope using a hollowed-out segment of cedar log or a turned mahogany cylinder to house the primary seed reservoir. Ensure the interior is sealed with food-safe epoxy to keep the birdseed dry and flowing toward the lower aperture.

Fashion the observation lens using a recessed, clear acrylic dome that allows birds to perch on the edge while protecting the seed inside. This creates a focused feeding area that mimics the look of a high-powered camera lens or eyepiece.

Build a sturdy, adjustable alt-azimuth tripod using reclaimed walnut dowels to elevate the telescope body above the ground. This base provides a vintage scientific aesthetic while offering the stability needed to withstand windy backyard conditions.

Install a decorative side-mounted finder scope made from small copper pipe scraps to serve as a secondary landing perch for smaller birds. Finish the wood with a deep walnut oil stain to accentuate the professional, scientific instrument appearance.
