Aeronautical Biplane Propeller Seed Spreader

Construct the main fuselage using a hollowed-out block of cedar to serve as the internal seed reservoir. Use a tapered turning technique on a lathe to achieve the classic aerodynamic teardrop shape of a 1930s aircraft body.

Craft the wings from thin-profile mahogany to provide a wide, stable perch for multiple birds at once. Secure them to the fuselage using traditional mortise and tenon joinery to ensure the structure can withstand windy weather.

Engineer a small wooden propeller at the nose that connects to a low-friction internal drive shaft. As the wind spins the propeller, it rotates an internal paddle mechanism that gently pushes sunflower seeds out of the lower fuselage ports.

Finish the project with marine-grade spar varnish to protect the wood from UV rays and moisture. Install a custom brass hanging mount on the center of gravity to ensure the biplane remains level while suspended in your garden.
