Construct the main horizontal support beam using reclaimed oak to mimic the heavy belt of a deep-sea diver. Sand the wood to a smooth finish before applying a dark walnut stain to provide an authentic aged appearance.

Fabricate six individual seed chambers from thin sheet copper, shaping them to resemble traditional rectangular lead diving weights. Apply a chemical patina solution to the copper to achieve a crusty, weathered maritime aesthetic.

Attach each copper weight chamber to the main wooden beam using heavy-duty brass rivets, ensuring the seams are watertight. Cut a small aperture at the base of each copper weight to allow for a controlled flow of birdseed onto the landing tray.

Install a distressed leather strap across the top of the feeder for mounting and complete the assembly with a copper-capped roof to keep the interior dry. Mount the finished belt to a garden post to invite birds to gather at the various weight-pocket ports.
